Festival Foods Brat Fries: We typically do 5-6 of these in the mid-to-late Spring (April and May).
Scrip/Raise Right Program: Contact scrip@bsatroop12.org for more info on this way for adult family members to earn funds into their Scouts' account and use for payment of related costs for their Scouting journey.
Christmas Wreath Sale: This is an annual fundraiser every October / November. Scouts have the opportunity to sell individually (face to face and/or online), and to participate in sales at our Charter Organization (First English Lutheran Church).
Appleton Octoberfest: The Troop has helped with garbage maintenance for several years now - we are typically assigned a two-block section of College Ave to police for day. In 2024, we started our own food booth - selling soft pretzels; we hope to continue this for years to come!
Flower Sale: In April we sell geraniums, using flowers grown by Greenhandle Greenhouses in Little Chute.
From the BSA Program Planning guide : Paying your own way is a fundamental principle of the Boy Scouts of America. It is one of the reasons no solicitations (requests for contributions from individuals or the community) are permitted by units. Young people in Scouting are taught early on that if they want something in life, they need to earn it. This principle is among the reasons that adults who were Scouts are found to have higher incomes.
Troop 12 program emphasis : In Troop 12, we have found the typical cost for a year of Scouting including annual registration, Troop outings, and summer camps to be $500-700 range. To enable Scouts to "pay their way", our Committee provides several fundraisers and Scout family accounts. By participating in fundraisers, the funds that Scouts earn flows into their Scout Account where they can then be used to pay for their Scouting.
